This Work is Personal
Yocum Law was built for people who are tired of being dismissed, delayed, or denied by systems that claim to serve them but rarely do. We know what it’s like to need help and be met with red tape, legal jargon, and silence.
We didn’t start this firm to play by the old rules. We started it to rewrite them.
Our work focuses on helping people get the benefits and legal support they deserve, especially when money is tight and the process feels stacked against them. And by doing that work well, we’re also able to help fund something bigger: the mission of JusticeMobile, our nonprofit legal clinic that brings free, on-the-ground support to communities across Ohio.
Whether we’re in a courtroom or a parking lot, it’s all about the same goal - making the legal system work for the people it was supposed to protect.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you handle Social Security Disability and SSI cases?
Yes. We handle both SSDI and SSI claims from start to finish, including reconsiderations, hearings, and appeals. These cases are contingency-based, meaning you don’t pay anything unless we win.
What if I’ve already been denied? Can you still help?
Absolutely. Many of our clients come to us after being denied—sometimes more than once. We’ll review your case for free and give you honest feedback about your options.
How do your fees work for disability cases?
For SSDI and SSI, you don’t pay anything upfront. If we win your case, our fee is a percentage of your past-due benefits, regulated by the Social Security Administration. If we don’t win—you owe us nothing.
What are ‘Justice for All’ cases?
These are non-disability cases we take on a sliding-scale basis, depending on your income. They include things like:
-
Divorce and custody
-
Wills and basic estate planning
-
Small business/startup legal needs
-
Other general civil matters
We only accept a limited number of these cases each month to ensure we can give them the attention they deserve.
How do sliding-scale fees work?
If your case qualifies, we’ll review your income and family size to determine a fair, reduced rate. You’ll know the cost upfront—no surprises, no hourly billing.
How do I know if my case qualifies for the sliding-scale program?
Start by contacting us for a free consultation. If your legal issue fits within the types of cases we take, and you meet the income guidelines, we’ll walk you through next steps.
Where are you located?
We serve clients across Ohio through virtual appointments, and our JusticeMobile nonprofit brings free legal support to various communities throughout the state. Yocum Law’s work helps sustain that mission.
